CPSC Annual Meeting
Parents Vote for New Board Members On January 27th at 4:00, CPSC held its Annual Meeting. We started the meeting off with the election of new members for the CPSC Board of Directors. Of our 11 Board positions there were 5 parent seats and 1 community seat open. Eight generous parents stepped up to contest the election. Zahid Rahimtoola and Nima Badiey were reelected to their second 2 year term. Karen Chin, Tonya Brilon, and Elisabeth Barek were elected to join the Board for their first terms. Lisa Lewis, the Associate Director of Palo Alto Community Child Care filled our single community seat. Without the willingness of so many of our talented parents to step up and volunteer to help us maintain our standard of excellence, life at CPSC would be different indeed. We are so very grateful to all those who ran and we are looking forward to a very exciting, innovative, and productive year!
Presentations were made about challenges and accomplishments over the past year, highlighting the fact that even though CPSC struggled with recession conditions, we were able to end the year in good shape financially without the need for any reduction in headcount. While we could see the impact of the recession in our enrollment numbers, our community is still intact and thriving.
Deana Arnold Receives the CPSC Lifetime Achievement Award
One highlight of the evening was the presentation of the CPSC Lifetime Achievement Award to Deana Arnold who has served our school in so many capacities over the years she and her family have been with us. Deana enrolled her first baby at CPSC in 2003 and over the next 7 years served repeatedly as a Room Parent, a Board Member, and most recently as our Board Chair. Her contribution has been outstanding and as the plaque that was presented to her says, “We will never forget you.”
The meeting ended with the rousing singing and dancing of our Senior Preschool children. The children and teachers had practiced diligently in preparation for this performance and it showed. All the performers thoroughly enjoyed themselves and really wowed their audience.
